MAC lipsticks - Diva and Hot Tahiti.

Hi ladies

I was recently gifted two MAC lipsticks which doubled my MAC lipstick collection in a moment (I previously had Russian Red and Plumful). I am always weary of people buying make up gifts for me without my input in shades so when I saw these shades I was very impressed. I had heard of both Diva and Hot Tahiti and the former was a colour I had my eye on.

Initially when I opened the caps, I thought two things:
- Oh a Glaze finish lipstick. Hmmm I wonder what that will be like.
- Hmmm these two shades look pretty similar to each other.

MAC lipstick Diva Hot Tahiti

I've haven't really given Diva a whirl because it is a dark lip and now we're into spring it requires an occasion for me to rock this colour (I await the day). However, I've worn Hot Tahiti a number of times and I am so impressed! I don't have much to say on the finish itself (I believe they are meant to have low level pigmentation and a sheeny finish) but the colour is perfect for an everyday pop of colour on the lips. It is a very subtle red in my opinion (MAC call it a soft reddish-coral) and against my skintone looks almost natural (depending on how much I apply) especially because I tend to blot to get rid of the shine.

MAC lipstick Diva Hot Tahiti swatches

As you can see in the swatches, the two colours do not look alike as they do in the bullet. Hot Tahiti swatches a lot lighter than you would think with an almost transparent look whereas Diva is an opaquely pigmented lipstick. I have tried Diva using a light hand and blending approach and found that it left a very pretty stain so it can be used both ways.

Overall, I am so happy with the shades I was gifted. Good job!

What is your favourite MAC lipstick? Do you think they are worth the £15 price tag?

Till next time...Toodles! :)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer.

Hi ladies

So this review has been a long time coming. I was shocked to find this in my drafts as having last been edited in November 2012! That must be some sort of record. Anyway, my procrastination levels aside, onto the review. This concealer retails for £21 and you get 7ml of product for this.

In all honesty, I can't remember what caused me to get this concealer in the first place. Maybe it was recommended to me all that time ago. I'm not too familiar with Estee Lauder as a brand but I've heard a lot about their double wear range. From my understanding it's good for long lasting coverage and so off I went to the counter and bought myself this. I have the shade Medium 03 which is perfect for my yellow skin. They have 8 shades from light to extra deep with varying undertones.

It comes in almost lip gloss packaging with a doe foot applicator which makes it easy to use. I only really use concealer for under my eyes and I reserve this concealer for occasions. I wear glasses 99.999% of the time so I usually just pop on the garnier tinted roll on or more recently the Collection lasting perfection concealer. I only wear contacts for special occasions if I'm honest and that's when I crack out this bad boy because I have nothing to hide behind.

I got the concealer in a shade lighter than my skintone which helps to brighten up the area. The Estee Lauder describe it as having a 'luminous finish' which I'm not sure I entirely agree with but it is a nice lightweight liquidy texture which makes it easy to blend. It gives good coverage and you can build it up because it isn't as thick as say something like the collection concealer.

I don't have problems with concealer wearing off but Estee Lauder pride themselves on saying this concealer lasts 15 hours. I don't think it creases any more than other concealers but I don't have oily skin. In fact, I think it works quite well for dry skin, must be because it is 'infused with minerals and emollients'.

It contains SPF10 which provides a bit of protection (I don't think relying on spf in make up is the way forward) but doesn't cause any horrendous flashback.

Could this photo be any more bizarre or unattractive?

So yeah 18 months later, we finally have this review! Have you ever tried this concealer? What is your favourite way to cover up them dark circles?

(I'm considering the NARS radiant concealer once everything else finishes. Comment with a link if you have a review of that please).

Till next time...Toodles! :)

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick - Rose in tension.

Hi ladies

I am very excited about this post. I now own a YSL lipstick! My lovely cousin gifted it to me for my brothers wedding (one of the perks) and in short, I absolutely love it! I don't think I've ever cut to the chase like this but why beat around the bush?

(Thanks to my cousin for the cool photos on her snazzy camera!)

YSL rouge volupte shine lipstick rose in tension

I got the shade Rose in Tension (17). I'm not really a pink lipstick kind of girl. I like my darker lips or red lips but the thing with that is I have plenty of them. I wanted my first YSL lipstick to be something different so pink it was. It isn't a barbie pink or too light a pink for my skintone. It's a medium rosey pink which will be perfect in spring for a natural look.

Now onto the formula. Oh the glorious formula. It is buttery smooth. It is the only lipstick I can apply without any lipbalm whatsoever, even when my lips are dry and yet it leaves the lips looking...for want of a better word...juicy. You would think this balmy texture would sacrifice pigmentation but you'd be wrong. It is more of a translucent colour but even one swipe provides a decent colour.

Overall, I'm a big fan and I'm sure this won't be the last Rouge Volupte Shine I add to my collection. However at £25 a pop, I don't think it'll become too regular a habit. Ouch!

Till next time...Toodles! :)
